When Luna turned three, she was sent to kindergarten. Carol and Harvey were nervous about sending her at first, but they figured they should, because they believed meeting other children would be good for her. But unfortunately, they were quite wrong. Kids laughed at her for her abnormal appearance, while other people who happened to be there screamed or just stared. at snacktime, Luna had to sit alone.

Luna may have been young, but she understood the behaviour of evryone else. this didn’t make her feel good about herself, and deep down, she wished she was normal. But then, a girl from the corner walked over and sat next to her. she smiled warmly. ‘Hi. my name is Mabel. you spell it M-A-B-E-L. what’s your name?” ‘L-Luna.’ Luna replied, surprised that someone would willingly sit beside her. Mabel was a very good-looking girl, with long, black curls and smooth brown skin and kind, hazel eyes. ‘Will you be my friend?’ asked Luna, a little nervously. ‘OK!’ smiled Mabel.

Over the weeks, Mabel and Luna became best friends. they ate lunch together, played together at break, and for christmas, they even got one of those “best friends’ necklaces. But, despite Luna having found a true friend, she still had troubles at school, which made her adopted parents worry about her a lot. Other kids bullied her and called her a nasty monster and an ugly witch. This gave Luna a bad temper, but she tried to keep it inside. One day, as Luna and Mabel were busy playing with building blocks, Seb and Deb, the twins and bullies, came over aand started taunting her. ‘Hey, nasty monster! this kindergarten is for humans ONLY! You are ugly and stupid and you should leave!’ they said together. ‘Go away.’ grunted Luna, none to happy that these mean kids had seen her. The twins were very indignant about this. ‘Nobody can tell us what to do!’ shouted Deb, shoving her. ‘especially not horrid monsters!’ added Seb. Suddenly, Deb yanked of Lunas necklace. ‘OH NO’ muttered Luna.

“Give Luna back her necklace back or I’m telling the teacher!” threatened Mabel, standing up to defend her friend. Deb ignored her, and simply stared at it. Then all of a sudden, Deb threw it on the floor and she and Seb started stomping on it! ‘Noo!’ wailed Luna. Tears squeezed out of her eyes.. her inner anger and sadness built up inside her, until suddenly, with a shout of anger and despair, she burst into purple flame, knocking back Mabel, Seb and Deb. then, when her rage died down, so did her flane. She heard faint weeping behind her. She turned around to discover it was Mabel, having fallen on the toy bricks and hurting herself. ‘Mabel!’ Luna gasped, suddenly feeling a pang of regret for her outburst. what didn’t help was that now evryone in the room was staring at her.

Luna sat in the time-out corner, feeling very ashamed. teachers looked at her disapprovingly, whispering things to one another. the bell rang. it was hometime. She saw Mabel with her parents. Luna could hear what they were saying: ‘Oh my baby, what happened to you? did that nasty girl hurt you?’ asked her mom. ‘Mama, it was’nt her fault. And she isn’t nasty, she’s my best friend! It was those mean twins, Deb and Seb.’ said Mabel, looking close to tears. ‘Nonsense! Deb and Seb are very nice children.’ replied Mabel’s father. As well as Mabel, Luna could see Deb and Seb, running to their parents crying crocodile tears, pinning the whole thing on Luna. last of all, Carol walked in and came over to Luna with a look on her face that suggested sympathy, worry and calm all at once. ‘Come on sweetie, let’s go home.’ she said. she took Luna’s hand and the two walked home in silence.

the idea of aliens goes back to ancient greece, when a philosopher, plato, I think it was, said that saying we were the only ones in existence was like planting a garden full of seeds and expecting only one to germinate. He does make a point… the universe is BIG, and modern scientists have found many planets that are the perfect distance from their sun to sustain life!

I’ll start with Kelper 62e. it’s one of the most Earth-like planets known, with a surface temperature of 0 centegrade, so this means it could have liquid water, a cloudy atmosphere, and even life! Kelper 62f is similar to its cousin, but a bit colder. its year is 267 days long, and scientists say it could have surface water or ice, witch, as my fellow space nerds know, is the fist step in creating life! these two exoplanets show the most promise in hosting life.

also, like I said in an earlier post, the big ear radar once picked up a signal that may or may not have been an extraterrestrial radio signal! it was even named the wow! signal. and some people have reported UFO sightings, but we can’t be certain they were telling the truth. they could have been, though! here is a link to a wikipedia page about the wow! signal:

also, remember that the universe is vast, with limitless possibilities. you never know what, or even who, is out there just waiting to be found. in my opinion, discovering aliens would do humankind good. the problem with our species is that we fight a lot, but if we realised aliens exist, then it would help us realise we’re a species, who need to work together instead of fight. and, even if I’m wrong to believe aliens exist, we should’nt fight anyway. violence solves nothing, and if we started trying compassion instead of war, the world would be a better place for evryone. and maybe if we stop, a little green figure will see, and smile down opon us.

Siblings can be tough. for example, my younger brother read my diary once. but here, I will tell you about some ways of coping with them, relating to them, and resolving rivalries.

first of all, remember that with young siblings, they really look up to you. who can blame them? you were with them from the time they were born, and to baby siblings, you are the coolest person in the world. also, look at them! baby siblings are the cutest things ever!

also, for younger siblings aged about 4+, you may notice that they ALWAYS want to play with you, and can be the most annoying people you know in about one million different ways. but remember, they only do this for attention. If they read your diary or hurt you physically, then DO get angry. make sure they can never do it again. but if they just do something smaller then that, then ignore them. brattiness is just a stage they’ll go through. and remember, no matter what a bratty younger sibling tells you, sticking up for yourself is not being mean. and one thing you should try teach them is that they can’t always get their way. or you could just let your parents/guardian tell them.

for older siblings, especially teenagers, remember they are going through tough times. secondary school is’nt easy, and neither is being a teenager. if they are really being annoying or cruel, stand up for yourself. here’s a line for when that happens: ‘stop! that’s not cool/funny/what siblings do to each other! you owe me an apology!’

this last paragraph is the most important tip of all: be nice to them. this doesn’t mean going along with evrything they say or mollycoddleing them, but remember to play with them once in a while and let them know that you’re there for them. kindness is the best way to prevent sibling rivalry.
